Another Nnedi Okorafor’s Novel to be Produced as a TV Series

Hugo award winner, and author of Binti, Nnedi Okorafor announced earlier this year that her short story, Hello Moto, written in 2011 will soon be adapted to screen. She wrote:

“The Nigerian film company, Fiery Films, has optioned my science meets witchcraft short story, “Hello, Moto”. Can’t wait to see what they do with it.”

Hello Moto is a short story she did in 2011 and is published on tor.com. The story is about three friends, Rain; the scientist and witch, Philo and Coco, her friends.

They had everything going well for them until Rain decided to mix science and witchcraft in making a wig that was supposed to make them more to help the society and also get rid of corruption in the country. Unfortunately, things go in reverse order. Philo and Coco are at the centre of chaos and corruption in the country.

Rain later realizes that science and witchcraft should never be mixed. But it’s too late. Now she has to try to right her wrong by bringing her now powerful friends under control.

That was for Hello Motto film. It was mind blowing the first time I heard it. It’s still is. Fiery Films has since been teasing photos of the book and it really shows the film is already in works.

Now, she recently announced another book that would be turned into a TV series by HBO; the company currently running Game of Thrones.

“I’m finally free to announce this:

My World Fantasy Award winning novel WHO FEARS DEATH has been optioned by HBO and is now in early development as a TV series with George R. R. Martin as executive producer. :sparkles:

Note: This did not happen overnight. It’s been nearly 4 years coming”.

She recently stated.
