Ònkàwé Book Club was founded 8th August, 2017 in Ibadan, Oyo State. So far, it is the most active bookclub in Ibadan. Our meetings take place on the 3rd Sunday of every month by 4:00pm. The venues for the meetings are fixed at random, taking into consideration the ambience and serenity that will enable accurate and intelligent conversations. Joining is free as long as you love to read books. We try to discourage our members from downloading e-books. We strongly support buying of books (soft and hard copies). In the last three months we have discussed I’m Judging You by Luvvie Ajayi, Under the Udala Trees by Chinelo Okparanta, Stay With Me by Ayobami Adebayo and Second Class Citizen by Buchi Emecheta. Summary and review of these books will be updated on our blog soon. It is our aim to resuscitate the reading culture in Nigeria and our vision in the nearest future is to make sure every child in Ibadan can read. So, if you want to be part of this (trust me! You want to) kindly send us a message on any of our social networks and the rest is easy as ABC.
