The Day Heaven Slept by Ikiemoye Iniamagha

The Day Heaven Slept is an interesting story. The flow of the story was ok. Although, I didn’t totally get the point of having part 1 and 2. The suspense was ok but I don’t like how it ended abruptly and I was hoping there would be an epilogue. Overall, it was a good read. If I have to rate it over 10, I’d give it a 7/10.

I was suspecting chief from the beginning, oh no! The story is not bad. It gives us some light about how self interest, cynicism dominate in politics. Referring to how the story ended, it seems the author likes suspense a lot. I like the descriptions and details about the people. There was a lot to learn though. I would rate it 6/10 because of the way it ended.

I enjoyed every bit of the story. The title is on point. I think the ending was rushed. It ended abruptly. I’d rare it 7/10.

It was a good read. Detailed, intriguing, learnt some few new words, educating and a beautiful work of fiction. Kudos to the author, although I feel he should have ‘wrapped it up’ better using an epilogue. I would go with 7.5.

A very interesting read. The author could have ended it in a more intriguing manner. Also, I love the great use of vocabulary. The story cuts across various life’s trends. 70 percent.

Personally, I enjoyed every bit of it. The voice of the narrator was so soothing. Also, I think the author was trying to depict God’s unconditional love for man through Ope and Promise’s love story. I like the fact that it’s very relatable. It also teaches a lot of lessons. For instance, the theme of sexual abuse. Parents need to be more deliberate in teaching their kids about sex and acceptable behavioural patterns from someone of the opposite sex. Also, even though the hustle for money is there, but still, it shouldn’t be at the detriment of your kids. Assuming Promise was close to her mom, she could have confided in her. I learned something else… Sometimes, when you see people behaving in a certain way, it’s possible that it can be traced to something that happened to them as a kid… The book is loaded.

I loved everything about the story. Its so real!
And as a mother, one needs to be vigilant…
The most interesting part of the story was where Ope (Jesus) went to pick Promise from her mother’s house.

Broken is an intresting story. The story depicts the love of God. How it is unconditional, patient and persevering.
Forgiveness is really divine because it’s not easy forgiving someone who you love so deep and they hurt you so bad.
